Zoning of Landslide hazards is one of the ways that used to determine critical areas. Landslide zoning maps can also be utilized in environmental planning to reduce damage. In the present article, the AHP has been applied to the Gollojeh basin located in Zanjan province. The most important factors in landslide occurrence in this study basin were identified as: geology formation, slope%, land use, height and distance from river, slope aspect, rainfall and faults. After layering and assigning weights to them the final map was produced in Arc GIS .The final results from this study show that the weight of the nine criteria respectively: are 0.4092, 0.2485, 0.1439, 0.0786, 0.0479, 0.0309, 0.023, 0.0181 with geology and faults having the greatest and last weights. Finally the landslide map denoting in four domains at very high risk, high risk, medium risk and low risk was prepaerd.

This study aimed to identify the geographical features of the pistachio tree planting, cultivation-prone are as in the province and zoning done. For this study, data from 12 synoptic meteorological stations, 5 climatologic and 15 rain gauge stations were used. Zoning of areas protoculture, the technique of GIS in terms of Bolein models and model AHP were used. Accordingly, by the use of software Arc/GIS, maps were sprepared by value. Then the Bolein matrix of each layer of software Idrisi was drawn up in order of significance of each element. The final map was obtained by integrating maps in Arc/GIS. The results indicate that the ranges of northwest and northeast, including two stations of Abbar and Mahneshan, due to geographic conditions have limited cultivation of pistachio trees. Therefore, there is potential for cultivation in these areas. It was found that the AHP model for accuracy and attention to detail, gives better results than the Bolein model.

The accurate estimation of potential evapotranspiration is very important in water source management, agriculture, forestry and pasture sciences. Recently using of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for accurate estimation has been developed and has showed good results. In this paper we estimate potential evapotranspiration in eastern Azerbaijan by Estefnz method. For calculation of coming net radiation (Rs) we used DEMSRTM images and solar analyst in ArcGIS software for 31 May, 10-11 am. After calculation of slope and aspects through digital elevation model, net radiation was estimated. The average temperature calibrates for elevation was imported in equation. Final maps show that the amount of potential evapotranspiration is between 0~15 mm/hour. Northern aspect and areas with high temperature have the higher potential evapotranspiration. Elevation and aspects are important factors than other factors in potential evapotranspiration control in the study area. The amount of evapotranspirtaion is higher than precipitation and therefore it is better that agricultural activities move to higher areas

Ever growth of population and following of that, increasing of landfills have caused that environmental experts pay attention to it. Understanding of environmental processes require the knowing of ecological relations between life and non-life creatures and nutrient cycle and important cycles such as water cycle and nitrogen cycle. Latexes in produced landfills sometimes persist with heavy metals in many years. Usually heavy metals containing with organic compounds in molecular structure show no severance. Landfill excretion management in suburban areas of large cities such as Tabriz is inevitable. To observe multiplicity layers in landfill excretion we used geographic information system for site selection. Results showed that landfill excretion in Tabriz is none desirable due to the status of groundwater and geological formations and the sense that compost industry to be established in this city.

Ardebil city has located in East Azerbaijan. As the third most populated city of Azerbaijan; it has been one the main centers regarding the population. Since 1993 it has been recognized as the center for Ardebil Province. A number of industrial towns have been built around it and have created much waste. The prime objective of the present study is identifying suitable locations for landfill in Ardebil city. To achieve this objective, the weighted overlay, analytic hierarchy (AHP), fuzzy logic and Boolean logic methods are used. The second objective of this study was to compare the above methods and identify appropriate methods for locating solid wastes of Ardebil city. In order to collect the required data geologic, topographic, hydrologic, and use and climatic factors maps were used. Required data for locating the landfill has been processed in IDEISI and ArcGIS.3 software and the final maps have been drawn. The results show that Ardebil city landfill location is a piece of land with 45 hectares area which has located 17km north of Ardebil (left side of the Ardebil-Moghan road). Field observations also confirm the suitability of the area for the landfill. Also the results show that the methods of AHP, index of overlap weight and fuzzy logic have the highest correlation with locating landfills in Ardebil, respectively. Boolean method presented wrong location for landfill and it is an inappropriate method for this purpose.

Flood is a natural phenomenon, which has been experienced by human being from very old times. In Iran, due to its very large area, several climates, time and local density of precipitation in most watersheds, there are many great floods in most areas of the country. In this study, run-off coefficient, maximum debit of flood, identifying the factors and elements that are effective on floodiness, and zoning of the area of Mardaq Chai watershed based on its flood bearing are analyzed. The curve number method of the Soil Conservation Service of America, which proposed a method to determine surplus precipitation in 1954, was used for this watershed. This is the most usual method for prediction of run-off volume. To do this, firstly, the needed data and information including the statistical situation of the area climates and satellite images were gathered and entered to the GIS data system. Compiling these data and information by the SCS method and the CN of the watershed, the infiltration level and run-off volume were prepared. Finally, the zoning map of the annual flooding potential of the area with different reoccurring periods were produced using weighting model and compiling the area precipitation, hydrological groups of soil, slope level, land use, etc. Iran, due to its very large area, several climates, and time and local density of precipitation in most watersheds, faces with many great floods in most areas.

Land is a key factor for all human activities such as providing housing, services and urban infrastructure. Efficient and optimal use of land resources is among very important responsibilities of urban planning and managers. This issue most of time is being neglected or little attention is paid to it especially in less developed countries. While in some areas considerable parcels of land for legal, economic or because of environmental reasons are left unused, intensive constructions are carried out in other parts. Attempts are made in this article to highlight the importance and of resumption of unused or misused urban lands and brought toward appropriate suggestions to improve the difficulties and problems of land availability.

Sarab Plain is located between SabalanMountain and Bozgoosh chain. This plain has rich groundwater resources, but waters asre saline due to movement toward the center of plain. This study assesses chemical quality of Sarab groundwater, and studies salinity changes of groundwater sources, in a duration of a decade (1999-2008). It uses the result of chemical analysis 45 deep and semideep wells in plain including EC, SAR and Cl indexes. It shows the distribution of quality indexes with mapping quality maps. The results of this study show that piedmonts of around plain have low and very low saline groundwaters, and the rate of salinity increases toward center and west of plain. Also, variation of EC index show that the rate of fresh groundwater has declined from June 1999 until June 2008. In this period low salinity of groundwater has inceased to 14.5%
