The mutual effects of humans and the natural environment always directly and indirectly cause land use changes, which lead to many environmental problems and endanger the life of the planet; Therefore, it is necessary to know the changes and the factors affecting them in order to continue life and reduce land use changes to overcome the problems. The current research is of applied type and in terms of its nature, it has an exploratory approach. In this research, satellite images of 1993-2003-2013-2023 and ENVI, ARCGIS and Google Earth software were used to identify land use changes in 5 land use classes of the city (man-made), barren lands, agricultural lands, garden lands and water lands have been used. The results obtained in the studied area during the last three decades during the years 1993-2023 from 26768 hectares of urban lands in Urmia and outside its boundaries show that urban lands (man-made) have always increased by 3744 hectares, lands Barren land decreased by 2838 hectares, agricultural lands increased by 2204 hectares, garden lands decreased by 5764 hectares, and water lands (river bed) have water seasonally due to the construction of Silvana Dam. Using the fuzzy Delphi method, 6 factors of population, wealth, technological progress, political economy, political structure, attitudes and values (culture) were identified as the main factors of urban land use changes in Urmia, and the first three factors are the main factors.

The uncontrolled development of the city as a kind of risk arises. Drastic changes in land use around and inside the city limits of good land degradation and environmental pollution that can threaten human health and the environment. This research have taken place to predict the development of the City of Sari and surrounding villages and to achieve the perfect result from satellite imagery of Landsat series (years 1365 and 1394) and layers of information such as distance to fault, distance from the river, distance from Energy lines, sensitivity of rock units, distance from roads, urban development modeling with logistic regression model was used. With using ROC the validity of the model was calculated 0.7603 that confirms the model probability results validity to predict urban growth. After mapping, the possibility of urban development and population growth prediction, two scenarios with historical approaches considering the normal development of the Environmental Approach to conserve forest, garden and water levels for the study area up to the year 1404 were defined and accordingly urban development in the direction lands was limited. According to calculations inside the city of sari within an area of 481.88 hectares and a population of over 50,507 people and in a range of 151.36 hectares outside the city a population of over 12805 people in 1404 will be added. According to results, the management needs to necessary urban and rural administrative measures to comply with environmental issues for urban and rural areas that will be added in the next 10 years.

An essential step to urban planning, management and evaluation of its effects is to simulate physical development of the city.
The aim of this study is to understand parameters of physical development at Sardroud city with regard to sustainable spatial development of urban issues from ecological and environmental viewpoint in the next two decades. Using Landsat 5 multi temporal satellite images and object oriented techniques, application changes of the lands in 1984-2011 period has been evaluated with emphasis on Sprawl expansion of Sardroud city. Based on the results, urban area of Sardroud which was 111.24 hectares in 1984, has reached to 528.12 ha in 2011.162.94 hectares of mentioned lands has developed on the Garden and agricultural land, which demands management of future development based on the principles of sustainable development.
Therefore, effective factors of physical development in Sardroud city is classified within 14 layers, and by using Artificial Neural Network method based on LTM Model, the possibility of urban development map was prepared. After predicting the future pattern of urban development in Sardroud city, the protection of gardens and green spaces strategy in the urban development process was operated using hexagonal layout of possibility of urban development map, giving the necessary space for the development, Extraction of natural green belt with the length of 15 km applying the ban of urban development in the around of proposed green belt, maintaining the ecological reserves of Sardroud city by reducing agricultural and garden lands, and prevent connection to the metropolitan of Tabriz is emphasized.

Tabriz metropolitan expansion has caused a large valuable land to go under construction. Therefor, this applied and experimental research was done to achieve goal investigation urban sprawl and land use changes in Tabriz metropolitan using multi temporal satellite images in 27 years period by object-oriented classification technique. This paper also based on historical and causal methodology evaluated spatial development of Tabriz metropolitan in 1984-2011 using multi temporal Landsat 5 and 7 images that obtained from U.S. Geological Survey organization and object oriented image processing techniques. The Results showed that the area of Tabriz metropolitan changed from 7220.34 hectares in 1984 to 22346.82 hectares in 2011. Considerable area of the recent development is located on agricultural and garden land that decreased 6470 hectares of mentioned land use needs management of urban future growth using mass building production, high-rise building production policies(compact city), using Bare land in the urban(infill development), urban development directed in other direction of agricultural land.

Urban sprawl and land use changes are one of the fundamental challenges facing urban planning in recent years. Therefore, modeling these changes is considered as an important tool by planners, economists, ecologists and environmentalists. This paper is an attempt to apply the Land Transformation Model (LTM) for urban land use changes in Tabriz based on artificial neural network and a geographical information system for the in prediction of Tabriz future development. Methodology in this paper is descriptive-analytic and the data are produced from satellite images, urban land use maps and approved plans for Tabriz. For preparation of data and analysis, ERDAS imaging and ArcGIS software, and for training test, simulation and the probable prediction map, LTM software are used. Results in training process, from 1989 to 2005 shows that 21469 cells (50*50 m) were expanded in 16 years period which is according to the real developed area in the same period and this result shows optimum training network. For prediction of probability map, we used Tabriz population and land use per capita was estimated in regional plan of Tabriz, and results illustrate 22484 cells changing until 2021 for future development. The results of the model, have predicted the most developed areas in the northwestern, east and south-east aspects and continuing this process would destroy green spaces, agricultural lands surrounding the city and threaten the environment. Thus, with this expansion, 8437 ha of green spaces and periphery areas will go on the built area. Continued sprawl development not only will destroy urban environment in periphery areas, but it also will disrupt spaces in Tabriz and there by will increase urban development costs such as infrastructure services.

Spatial interactions and functional relationships between cities and surrounding regions such as rural areas, located in their hinterland, gradually lead to different changes in their different spheres. Among important changes mainly affected by cities and seen in some rural areas of Iran in recent decades, there are functional changes originated from promoting rural tourism in them. Rural areas of Tabriz metropolitan are not excluded from of this rule and they are experiencing significant functional changes by formatting and promoting construction of second houses as a form of rural tourism. To explain how the functional changes are made and effective factors on them three village of Tabriz hinterland, have been chosen as reprehensive villages and were examined. Methods in present study are descriptive, analytical and we examined and express the relationships among research variables. The document method was used to review previous works and their changes and developments. This was a practical study in terms of our ultimate goal. The findings of this study show that these changes mainly have occurred during recent years and construction of second houses have to converting a significant proportion of agricultural function of these villages to entertainment-leisure function and also imposing major changes on land use of these villages.
