Investigating the local community's willingness to develop low-impact tourism in Sangar district (case study of villages in Sangar district, Rasht)

Abstract

Objective: Considering the negative effects of tourism, a large part of which is related to tourists, slow tourism can be used to reduce some of these effects. In this regard, the present study examines the willingness of the local community to develop slow tourism in the villages of Sangar district of Rasht.

Methods: This study was conducted based on the applied objective, in terms of descriptive survey method and using the field study method with a researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical population is the residents and also the village heads of the villages of Sangar district of Rasht , . After collecting the data, they were analyzed using the relevant tests.

Results: The results of this study showed that the attitude of the host community towards the development of slow tourism is positive. The results of the chi-square test for the indicators under study showed that it has an above-average status at a 95% confidence level. Also, according to the binomial test, the majority of respondents had a tendency to be more than average in all indicators.

Conclusions:

The results of this study show that by addressing existing barriers and improving the quality of services, there is a possibility of developing slow tourism in the villages of Sangar district. However, there is a need to improve public infrastructure, waste management, and also develop educational programs for local residents and tourists.
