Objective: Sustainable development of rural tourism is one of the most important goals and aspirations of various societies. In this regard, it is observed that in recent years, significant measures have been taken to establish and evaluate this concept. Accordingly, the main objective of the present research is to evaluate the goal-oriented planning and sustainable development of rural tourism in Sarein County, which has been conducted using a mixed and integrated approach.
Methods: The research method of this study is mixed, and the adopted approach is an exploratory sequential design. In the first phase, using the qualitative method of thematic analysis, the components and indicators of goal-oriented planning and sustainable development of rural tourism in Sarein County were identified and explained. The primary data collection tool in this phase was semi-structured interviews, conducted with 18 experts in this field through purposive sampling.
Results: According to the research findings, 243 raw statements were extracted and, following an inductive (bottom-up) approach based on the Attride-Stirling framework, each code was categorized under basic themes. A total of 97 basic themes were identified, and through the consolidation of these themes, 31 organizing themes were derived, ultimately leading to the extraction of 4 overarching themes.
In the second phase, a quantitative survey method was employed to validate and rank these components and indicators. A researcher-made questionnaire was administered to 52 experts, all of whom confirmed the components and indicators. Among them, the socio-cultural component ranked first. The software used in this phase included SPSS26 and SmartPLS4, through which all components and indicators were analyzed.
Conclusions: In line with the results of this study, goal-oriented evaluation of planning and sustainable development of rural tourism in Sarein County requires a flexible and integrated approach. In this research, the components and indicators were categorized and confirmed under the.....
